This is not a Mail List.
In these pages will be found topics of Catholic discussions of various interests.
The topics are culled from the various Catholic mail lists. Some are controversial, many
are informational, most are edifying.
Many of the discussions are in the form of debates, often very heated. Except for the
exclusion of email headers, the name of the mail lists and the message writers (although credit will be given where
due), the discussions appear in the original and have not been edited, even for brevity or context.
The editor has endeavored, and every effort has been made, to acquire permission from the mail
list owners and moderators to have the threads of the discussions included here. Many have given it freely,
others have refused. Also, the main debatants have been approached and asked whether they had any
objections to have their messages included here, and most gave their permission. Because the topics
and subjects of the discussions are not only of general interest to Catholics but also crucial to understanding
the problems assailing Catholicism today, the editor has taken the liberty of including those discussions for which
no permission was given, since the forum is public, not private, domain.
The editor does not endorse the subject matter nor the discussions, his main purpose and intent for The Roman Forum is that to inform. Although it is difficult not to take sides, he has made every effort to be impartial, even if he himself has often taken part in the discussions. Sep.1997
